playing dress-up

Caryn and I decided it was time to go through some boxes of my grandmother's old things and help my aunt to purge some of the accumulated junk, er...ummm... memories that can be hard to part with. Honestly, it was very interesting to look through some of the old letters written during World War 2 or postcards that cost 1 cent to send. Antiques always intrigue me, and it is special to look through things that belonged to my fabulous grandma bea. We found some old costume pearls and things that will be better off in a pre-school's dress up closet or something. And then... we came across the single-most exciting find of the evening. Grandma's furs. I had to model this little gem because, yes, what you see here is complete with a face and feet.A fox, two actually, that she probably wore proudly to Sunday morning brunch. I laughed about it and slung the hollowed-out baby fox around my neck, imagining ol' bea wearing this out on the town- but not even two seconds later it occurred to me that I had a dead fox on me and that really freaked me out. So gross. My grandma was a lovely lady with lots of class... and a "scarf" complete with tiny claws (no kidding).
Caryn found some really awesome jewelry too, and thought it only appropriate to model the bedazzling jewels. I found a big mink shawl, but she refused to wear it. I think it would have been so nicely complimented by all those diamonds!

I am surprised you let that evil rodent touch your shoulders.
