a yankee in dixie

For about a week I have been basking in the slow living that is Georgia. People wave and often say 'hello' everywhere I walk and sweet tea is served at every restaurant. This isn't my first trip to Brunswick, not at all, but something about leaving 40 degree Maryland weather and entering the glory of Georgia warmth is a pleasant surprise every time. Nevertheless, I am coming home tomorrow and I look forward to it. I can't shake it- I love home. I love to travel and I love to come home. I have never lived anywhere but Maryland and sometimes I can't understand why you'd want to live anywhere else. (Now, knowing that it is currently 71 degrees here and 40 something at home reminds me why you would indeed live somewhere else...but other than that...) I love being here in GA though, and I am sad to leave family. Easter is always a fun thing to share with those you love. I love easter and I love my family- so it was good.I also got to spend time with that guy in my family, Ben, and I really enjoyed that too. But something that I reflected on during my mini "vacation" this past week was just how wonderful my Ben is. Why? Because he is 100% nothing like my moderately crazy high-strung family and yet he fits right in. Nothing about (most) of this vacation fit his description of vacation. Ben loves my family, really- but the truth is, he is kind of a soft-spoken guy who doesn't do well with lots of people all of the time. And he needs to be active... always. Needless to say, staying in a house with 6 people and a baby did not spell relaxation for Ben. Yet, he is so easy going and still enjoys himself-- and, understands my love for the north as well as my love for this home away from home in the south. Love him. And, I love that we got the opportunity to be here. I am very thankful.

That picture is so cute! You should frame it and then have TWO frames in your living room!

Ditto...I love that guy too, and I am so glad that you had the opportunity to visit together, and that I was part of that "Moderate crazy high-strung family" you came to visit. I loved having you all here, and miss you. Come back soon...PLEASE!
Love, Carolyn
