This past Saturday I ran a 5k with my friend, j-lo. We were proud to finish the race, and finish it well. We ran the whole thing and were not last, thank you very much. She has been training for a while and was excited to run in her first 5k. The day was beautiful, the path was lovely, the turn out was good and our husbands were great cheerleaders. I even won a door prize. woot woot! A good day.
I have done a few 5k runs (some day I'll up the milage... some day), and you may ask yourself, why pay to run? (When I don't even love running that much)? I always like the experience and I like where the money is going. This particular one was set up to raise funds for Shared Hope International-- and importantly, to raise awareness of sex trafficking. The horrid truth is children (and adults), mostly girls, are put up for sale... Every day. In the U.S. Right here. It makes my blood run cold to even imagine what must being going on right now in the sex trafficking industry. It's a tough subject and there are so many, many efforts to get behind to eradicate many terrible things that happen in our world daily. But, since I did the run, sponsored by Shared Hope I thought I would share. The good news-- organizations like Shared Hope are literally saving lives- helping to rescue women from this modern slavery day by day!

I'm so proud of you! I've had a cramp in my calf for the last 3 weeks (true story), and it's made it hard for me to run at all. I wish it would go away. :( I tried running yesterday, and today I can barely walk.
Good work, friend!
Hooray Tara!!
