they say it's your birthday...

Today is my dear Meg's birthday. Growing up I always knew she and her brother were my cousins, and their parents, my aunt and uncle. Now I know they are just the best family friends a family can have. I am so blessed to have Meghan and her family as a part of mine. She is wonderful and fun and creative and beautiful... and she's 30!
Happy Birthday Meghan, I love you!

when ben goes to the grocery store

Ben sometimes does the grocery shopping on his way home from work. This tends to be more convenient, because sometimes when you live and work at camp, you don't leave the peninsula for days. I like when Ben goes to the grocery store, he often comes home with things like these.

winter coat woes

True story: A few weeks ago I found this coat at Banana Republic in the mall. I tried it on and it fit great- but I wasn't sure about buying it. I tend to be impulsive when shopping alone, so I really tried to think this one out. I though to myself, I am looking for a new winter coat, a warm new winter coat. But then I thought, I will wait, I don't need it now (even though it was on SUPER sale). I went back 2 days later with my aunt to show her and get her opinion... and it was gone. I couldn't believe it, I searched everywhere, every rack. I figured that it was indeed the cutest coat ever and someone else (wiser than I) snatched up that great deal immediately.
Stupid me I thought... and ever since then, I have been on the prowl for a new warm winter coat. Again, I do kind of need one, but moreover I have just become obsessed with the idea since my tragic B.R. outerwear mistake. I found a great thinsulate (that means warm) coat on J.Crew.com and it was even in TALL! but it was a little more expensive. So, I sat on the idea of this new internet find and surfed some more throughout the week to find myself another deal. Well, here's where it gets ugly. I pull out the computer tonight to show Ben the J.Crew coat (because I was totally unsuccessful elsewhere)... I knew he would surely help me make this decision. So, he likes the coat, in all of its long woolen thinsulate glory, and approves the purchase. Great! But before I know it, literally the ONE coat in MY size disappears right before my cyber-fixed eyes. The page refreshes itself, and there is only one coat left on the page... 3 sizes too big.
I keep refreshing the page. Thinking that this other tall 20 something woman will change her mind and take that coat out of her virtual shopping cart.
No luck. So I came to blog instead. I had to let it out. As of right now, this is the single most unfortunate situation on my Monday evening... I have heard of buyer's remorse, but this is a bad case of didn't-buy-it remorse.

brunettes have more fun

I know what you're thinking... Whose that girl sitting at Tara's desk? It kind of looks like her, but it can't be, because that girl's hair is brown. Well, friends, it's true, that is me! Isn't my hair just the brownest brown you've ever seen? I've griped publically on this blog my feelings on my black hair (that had been gradually turning various shades of black, dark brown and reddish) and finally I went to Bubbles hair salon and got it fixed! I let it run its course for almost a year, and now I am thankful for my one evenly toned brown from root to tip hair color. Hooray!

...maybe it's time to just say NO to box dyes... maybe.

happy birthday, to my carolyn

Today is my aunt's birthday! Hooray for Birthday's! It also happens to be my little cousin Edward's 13th birthday which makes me want to die a little inside. BUT this is really more about Carolyn (but happy b-day to Edward too! I love him...). So, Ben and I came to my aunt's house to celebrate, with her and my cousin's, this joyous occasion. We basically ate dinner and cake- perfect.
You should know, my aunt is a really wonderful person. I JUST love her. She is really fun and kinda quirky, and she's one of my absolute favorite people. She (and uncle) decided almost 20 years ago that they would take care of and love me as their very own- even when I wasn't the easiest child to love.
Happy Birthday Carolyn!
I love you!

office olympics

Today, we as a camp staff, decided it would be the official appreciation day for our boss. We had donuts and streamers to celebrate. What's even better, it was decided that we would hold the "Office Olympics" today. Very exciting. Although we didn't host Dwight's "Centathalon", much like the show, The Office, we did participate in various games such as- scariest face made on the copy machine, rubber band shooting (all about distance), fastest internet search engine searcher... it was a good time. We even had medals, made from paperclips and tin-foil: appropriately these were designed by our "administrative assistant", (although that title isn't really even all that she is). I was the proud recipient of a medal in the highest kick game. I kicked to the 6 and a half feet line... I bet my husband will be so proud. It was a fun morning in the office.

and we're off tonight to see the val nebbia band!
