trainman.

My sweet Uncle John. He really wasn't an uncle by blood relation, just one of those really close family friends. The kind of family you choose. He passed away suddenly last week and it rocked us all, as death often does. You scramble to find your footing when you are so blind sided by tragedy- and yet it is so overwhelming and humbling to see how people come together to rally around a hurting family to provide prayers, comfort, camaraderie and love in such a difficult time. You find joy in celebrating the life that was lost, but confusion as to "why" this had to happen.
Uncle John's daughter and my dear, dear friend reminded me that God is not surprised by this. We are surprised and at a loss... but he is there to provide and comfort us, because he knows how we need him now- he, was not blindsided.
Uncle John was a wonderful uncle, husband, friend and pop- he was a great man. He loved well and he always brought a smile to our faces. He was always willing to "tell you like it is" to be honest and kind with everyone. He worked long and hard on the railroad. No really, :) he was the trainman, working much of his life on CSX trains. And I have always and will always smile because of the man he was in my life, when I see or hear a train.

"When you pass through the water, I will be with you; in the rivers you shall not drown. When you walk through fire, you shall not be burned; the flames shall not consume you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior." Isaiah 43:2&3

my tara...he was so proud of you..always had been and was so happy to see you and Ben together because he loved him too...and y'all together. You blessed his life and he loved you like you were his own...as do we all. Thank you for this. Thank you for coming. You have no idea how much it meant to all of us to see your faces, even for a short time. love you!
