on packing

You know it's bad when I am blogging about packing instead of actually packing. I don't know why I find this task so painstaking and... tricky. It is, you know... tricky. It's hard, even for a quick weekend trip, to know what is appropriate to pack. You need layers because weather is unpredictable (kind of). And you need multiple outfits, just in case. What if you pack jeans for church, but your destination church is not a jeans kind of place. Or, when a friend says a 'nice dinner' and you wear flip flops with that skirt because you didn't realize that in this case, nice, meant Ritz Carlton. I'm just saying- it's tricky.

Not so much for my husband. This bag has been packed for 24 hours and took about 20 minutes (or less) to pack. I sat while he packed and thought about packing. Not even half as effective.

The empty suitcase is so daunting...

I know I will over-pack... but I am scared of under-packing.
Do I carry-on or check? I don't abide by the $15 fee for your first checked bag. No thank you. But even if it's a free first bag- isn't it nice to not have to worry about baggage claim... or that time they lost my bag. Oh, but the 1 quart bag, 3 oz. or less...

Making progress. It always gets done. And I always forget something I didn't know I needed. Or something I didn't need comes with me... oh, packing... It's fine though, because the end result means travel. Which I love.

My advice? Bring a raincoat. It is San Diego, after all, and who knows when the sky will decide to open up and dump 9 inches of water on you?

I don't think you should bring the pink shirt.

Just kidding.

And it won't rain! :)

I LOVE packing! I usually just bring a dress and a bunch of different shoes. :)

The last time I packed a bag was for Caleb's boot camp graduation weekend. They told us we should wear blue since that was the color for that platoon and well, I think I packed enough blue for two weeks. I literally packed every blue shirt I owned. We were gone for two days.

And then I came back to Georgia and had to wash about one load of blue laundry that I never wore.
