Maryland, Virginia, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma.
Day 1 of our road trip Kaley and I jumped into her extremely packed Toyota Rav-4. We had an 11 hour day ahead of us but we were nothing less than excited to see all that the open road had to offer us. It was sad to pull away from her parent's house and the skies were mostly gray- but we knew that Nashville Tennessee was waiting for us. We listened to all kinds of different music, literally all kinds. We took in the sights of Virginia, admiring the golden yellow, red and orange leaves that adorned the trees. The mountains were really impressive despite the rain.
We kept driving and it seemed like Virginia (as lovely as it was) would never end. We did finally make it to Tennessee which felt like quite an accomplishment. We passed by the exit to Dollywood and I was pretty disappointed that time did not allow us to stop by! But, when the exit came up for our hotel in Nashville we were pretty excited. We got settled at the Country Inn and Suites and freshened up a bit before our "big night" on the town. It was, after all, Halloween night in Nashville. We basically found the brightest street in downtown Nashville and picked a cool looking restaurant for dinner (that we later learned was a chain, bummer). It was fun to see all of the restaurants and stores, most of which has some sort of country theme to them.

Almost everyone in the city was dressed up for Halloween- the only thing we were unsure of was whether people were dressed up as cowboys and cowgirls or if those were just the locals in the area. We tried on some hats to try to better fit in.
We opted not to go for the hats but we did buy matching (i heart nashville) t-shirts.
Day 2 we headed out for Oklahoma, our next overnight stop on our road trip. We had to stop in Memphis, just to say we did, and let me say, we visited "the king" and moved along pretty quickly. Not all that exciting of a city.

We were happy to finally make it to Oklahoma and especially excited to make it to Norman where we got to stay with friends. Lindsey, who is fantastic, let us stay in her sweet college house and all of our friends from Camp (because we have a uniquely large population of "Oklahomans" who work here at camp in the summers) met us for coffee. I can't tell you how great it was to see them, in their home state!
And to be in the Native American land... TP in a TiPi! (sorry)
We toured a little bit of the OU campus and this is when Kaley and I realized, if that is college, then we didn't really go to college.

We went to bed way too late and planned to get up really early for our next, and longest day of driving...
