We went to see Mary Poppins on Broadway and it was wonderful. I love shows with lots of dancing and good music- and this had all of that. Mary even flew and Bert walked on the ceiling (seriously!) It was kind of rainy and chilly so we didn't do too much else in the city, other than eat, we ate a lot. So, since there wasn't really anything else on the agenda, we jumped at the opportunity to take a backstage tour! They were offering "backstage passes" for groups of four if you made a tiny little donation to their Broadway Cares foundation. We went on impulse and decided to do it. So Fun! It was the coolest thing to be on stage and see how everything works and how small "backstage" really is... and to meet Mary Poppins, Bert & Jane and Michael Banks.
Here's how excited we were...
The Banks' houseOur view of the theatre from on stageMary Poppins and Bert the Chimney Sweep! They were so kind. And fashionable.
I also thought it was very cool that Julie Andrews came to see the show. Backstage there was a wall of all these different celebrities that had signed their names. I love that she is the Mary Poppins and she came to see the Broadway show!
It really was a very, very cool experience. And a great mid-week trip. I heart NY.
